Getting to comprehensively kick England's butts again (just for good measure)
Getting to see the opposing captain say, through gritted teeth, that he thinks Australia played well and really deserved the win
Getting to see Shane Watson jump around like a 5 year old on christmas morning
Getting to see Nathan Hauritz bowl brilliantly and have the (English) commentators actually describe him as having "bowled brilliantly"
Getting to see Ricky Ponting show his complete arrogance and impatience at the trophy ceremony, even though he won most of the trophies
and, my personal favourite:
Getting to see the lads dressed up in stupid coats that make them look like ice cream vendors from 1982
(notice the absence of the stupid coats in the above photo, which was probably taken 5 minutes after they were given out)

If they win the upcoming one day series against India in India, I will finally forgive them for losing the Ashes. Them beating India is more important to me than beating England. :)
Congrats Sid! But you really need to get over the Ashes. Next year ain't that far away ;).
I think I'd get over the Ashes quicker if I didn't live in England with an England cricket supporter who likes to remind me every morning. I can't wait until we win it back!
Psych, beating India in tests is more important, but they are only playing 7 ODIs (7?? Again??) in India. And I think I have already forgiven the Aussies for losing; I'm still annoyed at the England team for winning though :-)
That was bloody funny by McCullum. It was such an afterthought to mention the opposition while looking like he wanted to knee Punter in the goolies. Well done, Brendan. I would expect no other response from a Kiwi captain.
That's the problem with Dan the Man. He is a bit too personable for his own good. But the game felt flat from the moment he called in sick.
You would have cared if the Aussies had lost it.
And the Saffers, England, Sri Lanka... would have been singing in the streets if they had won it.
It's all relative.
Ok......but those coats are supposed to be really really expensive..........made by some famous designer........
And yet again the team I supported lost.....
Well done Ponting and co.
Haha! I did find it quite funny how the guys reacted with the whole white jacket. Thought it was shocking to how the Black Caps just stood about, no runner up medals or any jazz like that.
Comedy aside though it was epic the way Watto ended off the game, and while Punter was the main force with the batting all the other guys did contribute in match winning ways. I think what the Trophy symbolises for the team is very important.
Pity we'll have to play India now in a rather meaningless 7 match series with a team most likely made up without our main players, atleast that's the general idea I get.
Sid, the Ashes will be ours again in the not to distant future, so just keep reminding them about the 5-0 series...it must be in their memories somewhere, or the general idea I get is that somehow every English cricket supporter genetically managed to forget about that.
You delude yourself! The Ashes is the greatest prize in cricket and winning it back in two years time will be sweet!
@ anonymous - don't be anonymous :-)
Also, yes, I would have cared but it wouldn't have been the end of the world. I would, however, have been devastated if we had been knocked out of the competition by England.
@Cricket Bats - I'm gonna go out on a limb and say you're an England supporter. I have lived in England now for quite some years, on and off, and I don't remember many of you crying "the Ashes is the greatest prize in cricket" during that 17 years you couldn't win it :-)
The Ashes is pretty important to me and not just because I live in England. I don't mind admitting to anyone that I cried in 2005 when we lost it for the first time in so many years. But I stand by my statement that beating India in a test series (not this over long 7 match ODI series ...) in India is more important. I think this because, no offense, but for such a long time England didn't exactly give us competition while India did. When Australia were at their height of dominance, they still struggled to beat India in India.
Sorry, but in recent years India vs. Australia has become the bigger rivalry. Only very, very marginally, though.
And we are so gonna win the Ashes back next time!! :-P
