All's well that ends with a cute nightwatchman, I always say

... and a pantomime dame in the guise of an opening batsman. Poor Watto missed out on that elusive maiden test century again - but what the hell happened?

I haven't yet seen the hightlights of the second half of the day but I have read all about this run out - was it a classic case of the batsmen not communicating? It sounds to me like Katich bailed out on the run and should have called to Watson to let him know ... but, as I said, not seen it yet.

Despite the lack of 100s (again), we are looking pretty strong, I think. Watson and Captain Kat ought to be pretty pleased to get as far as they did, as it was largely due to some dodgy fielding by the Pakistanis. There were some pretty damn hopeful LBW calls as well - do we think they were counting on Koertzen continuing his dislike of Aussies?

I don't think any Aussie was surprised that Punter was out there - we all thought he would be even if he had to be carried out into the middle - and then to get 57 ... the lad did ok. I imagine he won't be happy with it, though. He usually isn't. No comment about the day's play on his facebook page.

Not really much else to say: Punter won the toss; two near misses for the openers; Punter got a half century and Mussey is looking okay out there (and My Lord - whose groin seems to have recovered nicely - the nightwatchman on 5).

Australia 305 - 3 at stumps on Day 1

P.S. come on Saffas!

At tea the umps offered me the bed and I gladly took it. Call it inverted jinxing but right thereafter the runout happened, and btw Kato is a goat, serves him right to go out two short of the ton *grrr*

Apart from that I am very happy about the situation from an Aussie point of view. We shall see if there is more in the pitch for the Paksie spinners later on, though. I think Ajmal the work horse deserves a wicket.

Siddle being back is another plus, he and Bolly will probably reign supreme, hopefully, seeing what Asif does (but I didn't see his wickets).

Depending on how Ajmal is doing, there might be wickets for NMH as well, but Ajmal is the doosraman.

That little part time leggie Farhat...
I have a crush on his bowling action. Okay he has the worst econ and got only 3 overs but this is irrelevant. B)

I haven't seen Twatto's near miss ton but am I allowed to giggle my head off about it in anticipation of watching it? I think I am.

It seriously wasn't his fault. Getting forked in the butt by your appreciated partner when you are really looking good is about the worst it gets. He is cursed :(

I've seen it and it was very funny. They had problems throughout the day by the looks of it. Both of them getting a leetle anxious, I think.

I thought it was Captain Kat's call, so if Watson just put his head down and bolted...

Anyway, to do the text talk thing, LOL at Watto.

That comment by Swann is meant to be funny, right? He is sounding unpleasant. Why doesn't he keep that stuff for his mates?

Oh Sid nooooooooooooo...
What has been read cannot be unread :(:(:(
He is so ugly, gross and dumb in his hubris, I feel embarrassed for him :(
Considering that his mother tongue consists of 50% Latin his ignorance just makes you cringe :/
Even England don't deserve such a poor clown.

I finally watched the run-out and I don't know who should have been out - it's hard to tell - but I'm glad Watto went; it was not Captain Kat's fault at all. Kat was watching the ball and the game, Watto was watching nothing and that's why it happened.

Bye bye Twatto.

As for the Swann comment - these little gems are the sole reason I follow him on twitter. He is such a moron, he can't not make them.

"Bye bye Twatto."

I will stand by him, he is one of Oz's most precious players, best openers and best bowlers. Thus, he just doesn't deserve all this shit people fling at him, imagine the side with Hughes, the criticism and mockery is not justifiable.
