England is in some sort of uproar at the moment because their football captain, John Terry, has been sacked for shagging a team mate's girlfriend. I don't see what the problem is - what does a football captain actually do?
It's not like cricket where the captain needs to know the game inside out and makes decisions that impact on the game from beginning to end (I repeat: Ponting - me, big stick, hit ball hard), is it? My standard pisstaking of Punter leads me nicely onto Pup ... I love him; I want him to be a good captain.
But he constantly disappoints me.
I haven't watched the T20 yet, because I'm afraid I will be disappointed in him yet again. It is sitting there, filling a huge gap on my Sky box, taunting me ... watch me, watch me ... join other Aussies is disliking Pup, already.
So, somebody put me out of my misery and tell me he was superb ... Lou? Stani? Wes? Please????
Otherwise, it's 6 Nations time. Come one Ireland!

This really hurts me to say. Really, really hurts. But he didn't completely suck.
He was pretty good I thought. As the score was so low, he had no choice but to attack so he did.
It'll be interesting to see if he becomes more conservative if they have more runs on the board.
Besides it's worth watching for Tait's frightening bowling at speed, Dirk looking good in Oz colours, Smith's non-sucking as a spin bowler, MJ's great run-out (forget about his piss-poor catching), Kamran's fierce batting and the Pakistan fielding. They looked like some other team. Perhaps they have all accepted that they can't concentrate more than 20 overs worth so they just don't really try at any other format.
He read the situation, read the pitch, he attacked, was bold, stuck to his convictions and didn't let setbacks discourage him.
All in all, I was very impressed. Kept a slip in place like the whole way through, took a lot of balls. He must have eaten those before the match though, didn't see any munching during the game.
And yes, Johnson has a crappy day in terms of catching, but the run-out he nailed will make you squeal like a schoolgirl when you see it.
We made him look good I'm afraid. Sorry. But we can make any captain look good.
See Lou and Nathan and also see Wes' match post over at Reverse Swing
PS the new comment form confuses the bejesus out of me, I always think wtf am I at Purna's @_@
Wes, you should change your comment form too. The other one will only give people (like me) problems.
@Stani , yes we helped him look good but he did well too can't take credit away when his bowlers were firing at 160kmph he attacked rightly so and kept his confidence on even newbie Smith.
But his real test will be ICC T20 in Windies. I think that will make or break his captaincy career.
It's worth remembering, he had other bowling options than Smith, including David Hussey and himself.
Nathan do you mean Clarke? Wasn't the bowling the thing that had ruined his back... I seem to remember that someone said something like that.
Stani I know what you mean, however a few smaller problems are related to it:
The form does not adopt the blog colours (silly coding I know but only marginal but to a visual person like me it is heaps annoying), and does not display the media in the post (more annoying) but the silliest thing is you cannot just click the subscription link but have to actually post something in order to subscribe to the comments. Why do they have different subscription modes that depend on the comment form??? This is bloody idiotic. Nevertheless I am thinking of changing it as soon as I find a way to subscribe via email without having to post something.
Wes' latest blog
ANGRY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Stani, you're so hard on your team. I guess it must be quite frustrating at the moment, though.
Wes, you can blame the crew over at Stani Army for the change in comment form; I had an email from one of the lads telling me the other causes problems. Actually, I kind of like it this way.
Wes
"Stani I know what you mean, however a few smaller problems are related to it: The form does not adopt the blog colours (silly coding I know but only marginal but to a visual person like me"...you mean a girl? :)
Don't be so overblown about it! Just remember, our lovely Amy, the queen of the cricketing blogosphere changed it (although I did ask her really nicely :)). You can do it too. How many people do you think have tried to comment on your blog, have not been able to and then just left without bothering to tell you? You don't know do you? Why not remove the doubt of whether someone is finding it difficult or not?
The obvious benefit is that you'll have me turning up there every so often :)...[Wes immediately signs in to blogger and begins to change her settings]
Sid
That's the spirit.
I'm not hard on them....it's pure love. If your team was this talented and achieved this little, you'd probably be worse than me. See.
...and it was me that mailed you :)
Stani, unfortunately I do not remember Amy changing it, it must have been long before my time. The main problem was also the subscription mode (the old form gave you a one-click solution to subscribe via email). Also I think the blog has about three visitors :)
If you can spare a minute and maybe illuminate me about the nature of the problems you met commenting in the old form? Nevertheless it's been changed now, I am looking forward to seeing you more often.
Cheers,
Wes
