In response to Purna's excellent post on the excitement caused by Moron Rudi's retirement, I'd like to take the opportunity to bring her back down to Earth.
Today, it has been announced (by the English media anyway - I'm skeptical) that Graeme Swann is now statistically the world's number one spinner. This is what I think of that:Of course, this is after taking another 5-for.
Against those test giants Bangladesh.
Woo fucking hoo.
Do you think I can justify putting him on the smack list four times?

Please, add him to the smack list! I'm English and I can't stand the bloke.
Nurture the hate. Let it bloom.
The last decision that Swann got in the "5-for" was diabolical. Even Rudi woulda got that right. Bowden should concentrate on his umpiring and stop trying to be a star.
Not a true 5-for.
Shame more wasn't made of Swann's drink-driving - nicely covered up. English cricketer of the year, number 1 spinner...what a wonderful world we live in!
He is already on that smack list, at the top of it in fact, but I just don't feel it's enough. Maybe I need to send him a dead animal in the post.
I'm thinking of adding Dominic Cork to the list as well, on the grounds that he was on BBC radio this morning crowing on about how England will have a better chance in Brisbane knowing they have Swann on the side.
And I used to like Cork.
... and a fascict PM, Stani. Is there nothing good in life anymore?
Oh yeah, there's still Hauritz.
Nooo, not Corky! He drops some clangers but he means good deep down. Perhaps a final warning?
I would like to give half-tracker a crown for his wonderful opinions. Finally, an Englishman who speaks sense!!
Sid, I was so happy when the bugger was wicketless in the first test. Then the second test happened... bastard!
OK, then. We'll let Cork off with a warning. I do still like him. I started a standing ovation for him at Edgbaston once so he must be alright.
...and Katie Melua Sid....don't forget her, she's good enough to turn lesbian over. But back off though, she's mine.
Better change in the Ashes? Surely he didn't mean Brisbane in particular?
For a piece of interesting but completely meaningless statistical trivia, of the spinners who have played Tests at the BCG this century, only the only two with records better records there than in general are Warne and a certain Queenslander by birth who was playing for Randwick-Petersham when he was calle dup for his second cap. (Am I allowed to utter his name on this blog?)
So if you hate Swann, KP and the K guy you talk sense lol.
Hasn't Benaud done well at BCG but he isn't from QLD.
Grey blazer, I did say this century...
The god himself lol.
@Jonathan you must be nice to Our Richie!
When Cork said Brisbane, I think he meant is as being the first match of the series as opposed to Brisbane in particular. That they will be feeling more confident than usual going into the Ashes because of Swann.
