Series lost ... oh crap!

There once was a team from down under
who could blast their opponents like thunder,
but injuries hit
and their batsmen were shit
So they allowed England to beat them asunder.

Don't worry Sid, the Stanis are here to revive you. We can turn around anyone's slump....and hand 'em a few world records, centuries and 5-fors on debut while we're at it.

See, I'm not sure about that Stani. If anyone is due a win against us, it's you lot.

However much I hate to say this: if a whitewash (or near-whitewash) loss in this ODI series leads to a serious shake-up of both Australian selectors committee AND Australian XI, I won't feel so bad.

And I hate to say this even more: Shane 'Crybaby' Watson was the best Australian batsman out there last night. Not the only decent one - thankfully, Paine, whose batting I really enjoy, got a decent score - but the best one. I hate, hate, HATE having to write that. I lay the blame of Ponting. Not because it's necessarily fair, but because I can and want to.

I agree, bettiwetti. What sort of arrogance was it on behalf of the selectors to go to England with the bowling attack they did?

As soon as MJ was out, they should have got in Nannes or Tait.

Not that I will blame the bowlers, you can't blame McKay, he's not really international class and Haze is too young and anyway, he looked good for a youngster, not Aamer quality, but there's time. But the fact that they brought in Tait and played him over either of them is an indictment of lazy selectorial thinking before the trip. And of course he was good. Now why was that do you suppose? It can't possibly be because he is a wicket-taking bowler, can it?

But of course, the bowling pales in comparison with the batsmen and their fearful approach.

Mind you Glamorgan must be pissed off. I was worried about Tait as he has been pants for them, but his first over knock-em dead ball to Bedwetter and he was off.

Sid, so have you seen the new Ashes ad?

It's at ClarkeAustralia's propaganda, I mean CricketAustralia's propaganda site on the front page.

Not happy Jan. What was wrong with us??? And we are supposed to play them in the Ashes later this year. Starting to lose hope already...

We will be in a forever due-a-win status.

Shane Watson: Only his parents like him. (New T-Shirt for you Sid!)

By the way Sid, did you consider 'rent them asunder' for the last line?

You know, Lou I didn't think of much when I wrote this. I was in such a foul mood I threw it right off the top of my head then threw something at the TV.

I have noticed that ever since we switched to HD TV Australia lose - so that's it, no more cricket in HD. It's bad luck.

But yes, "rent asunder" would have been better. I don't think it's fair to change it now though.

Stani, I love it. There is a site where you can have t-shirts made isn't there? Perhaps you and I should have them made up there and sell them then split the profits? What do you think?

Sidthegnomenator said...

Also, I too agree with Betti - we should all blame Ponting ... just because we can.

Stani Army said...

...only if you agree that Nathan has nothing on me...

...then I will start making the shirts and adding them to my spreadshirt shop http://tinyurl.com/2cemewc

We can add the new Ponting one to the collection too:

Blame Ponting? YES WE CAN!

Stani ... My Lord has nothing on you.

Damn, Stani, this can't miss! LOL

Stani?

Sorry to start sub-editing you too (I do this sort of thing for a job so its hard to stop) but what about Because We Can (as bettiwetti suggested).

Or even just a dismissive 'Of Course.'
