Well, after I wrote the post below (things go so much better when I'm all negative, have you noticed?) Mussey and Warrior Shaunie walked in and saved our arses big time. From a very poor start (you know it's really poor when Barbie Broad takes 4 wickets.), we ended up with 277. When Ponting went, the projected total based on the run rate as it was then was 189! What a difference a good partnership makes, but why aren't our higher order batsmen making them?
It was then up to the bowlers to defend like all hell. I admit I didn't watch (family visiting) but was pleasantly surprised every time I whipped my phone out to check the score. Can't say how the bowling and fielding looked, but I see Tait got his standard 4 wickets and I hear Ryano was giving a poor display of death bowling that scared some people half to death.
Thanks to everyone on Twitter this last hour for keeping me sane!
So it's 3 - 2, not ideal but at least we didn't give them a whitewash. Now it's off to meet the Stanis (again). I'm not assuming anything with these two T20s - if they are going to beat us in anything it's T20 and man are they ever due one. Get your Musseys primed ... Birmingham, here we come.

Tait has made such a difference. If we had kept going with Clunk, it might have been a whitewash you know.
Now why wasn't *this* series a 7 game series, hmm?? (Kidding: 5 is ok, and I'm possibly only saying that because it allowed us to redeem ourselves. Us being the Warriors here, natch. Saved the day as usual... well, as usual except when playing for the Warriors.)
Anyway, Sid, I have noticed that things go better when you're negative, and you seem to write a bit more as well. I think it's about time you started working on some nice, pessimistic pieces for the Ashes - tix on sale in 9 days!!
Nice to see Shauny adding real momentum to the innings. I hope he realises that he can do this at international level instead of playing within himself so much.
Thanks England!!! We're the ones that are supposed to play teams into form. Now that the English have done so, nothing remains but for us to give the Aussies a right pasting. Right Sid? No, maybe not.
I don't know, Stani, I still think you guys owe us at least a T20 beating.
Don't worry, I am working on some negative stuff pre-ashes. I did write something a while ago but it may be time to get some more done. I hope it helps.
My concern here is that My Lord went home injured and we got Tait. If Lord Nathan hadn't been injured, it might have been a very embarrassing series. A guy at the gym this morning assured me we had lost 4-1, by the way. I think he had stopped watching about the time I wrote the last post! I was pleased to disappoint.
Can't wait for the game between the Stanis and Aussies tonight.
And Sid, tell your guys not to massacre the Stanis this time around, it's a loooong time since they won something against Aus.
