OK, so I've put up a poll. I'm definitely moving off to wordpress in the next few weeks, but what the blog is called when I get there is up to you.
Please vote and tell me what you think it should be. If you go for "neither of the above" and have another idea, by all means comment on this post and tell me what it is. If you go for "don't care", I'm going to assume that you like the blog so much you will read it regardless.
Thanks

I voted to keep the name as is, although I'm actually quite fond of your twitter moniker as well.
Thoughts from the dustbin is fine.
Hello Sid. I considered your intention to get rid of the dustbin term and voted "something else". Reasoning:
There is one possibility you seem to rule out entirely: slightly modifying the name, so that the dustbin goes, but people still know immediately it is you.
If you change the name entirely your identity will be gone. Dustbin may not be the most obvious name for a cricket blog but people have grown accustomed to it and know what it is about and who runs it. The two terms "Thoughts from the dustbin" and "Sidthegnomenator" are your identity. If you entirely change your blog name you will have to tell everybody from anew who you are... "The width of wtf?" "That's me, Sid, from thoughts from the dustbin" "ahhhh thoughts from the dustbin!!!" See what I mean. It will be work enough to tell everybody to change your link in the blog rolls and other permanent mentions.
So I think you should pick something that still has the old ring to it but I understand you want to get rid of the dustbin. Stupid example: "Thoughts from the cricbin" "Thoughts from the offspin" "Thoughts from the munchkin" or whatever. The point is, from a marketing point of view, that "thoughts from the dustbin" is so completely unrelated and silly, it sticks out like a sore thumb and people immediately remember what it is. It has become a valuable well-known brand and you shouldn't entirely kill it. Imagine I changed my blog name from "Play For Country Not For Self" to "The Backlift of Simpson". The only reaction (and I am sure the only one) would be "WTF?"
Another example: Greyblazeragainblogging is the most idiotic name for a cricket blog I have ever heard. No offence GB :P It has nothing to do with cricket either, and it is so absurd it sticks like superglue, you hear it just one time and you will remember it for the rest of your life. It is thus much, much better than most of the cricket-related blog names, in which people fight the everlasting battle over the most unrecognisable fielding position and end up not being remembered or permanently being confused with each other (I for instance have entirely lost overview)
So that was just a long cheesy novel about the value of "Thoughts from the dustbin" as a brand and identity, hope it helps *g*
okay something is wrong with the poll. It adds my vote to "thoughts from the dustbin" although I voted "neither of the above". It only happens with that option, the other options work fine. So please subtract my vote from the first option and imagine it in the third ;)
No it doesn't count it at all if I vote the third option. Weird. Ah well you know what I mean ;)
Ok, great that you're moving away from this shambles, becuase commenting here is really lame ..
Keep the name!
And I'm curious; Are you going for self-hosted or wordpress.com?
Wes has got it right.
You can alter the name slightly but please don't do away with 'dustbin'. Maybe you could opt for synonyms of 'thoughts'.
Whatever you do, just don't go for something completely different, please.
The name's fine, but I'll read this no matter what you call it. Like to hear your thoughts on the tour match: the spinners worried me – our own spinners' inability to take wickets, and theirs vice versa.
Thanks everyone. I evidently didn't make it clear, but it was never going to be one big move. I had planned to move to WP and stay Dustbin for a couple of months and then change it - and even then the tagline would have been "formerly thoughts from the dustbin".
But you've all convinced me.
At the moment, I'm going freebie on wordpress but think I will start paying for it at some point. It's just working out costs and how much smarts I need with HTML and all that.
Thanks everyone, really appreciate your thoughts.
Hey, why are you still here and not on Wordpress.com?
I'm still not happy with my wordpress site. I want it to be just perfect before I move. Most likely I will move with the first Ashes test.
