Hauritz 0 - Doherty 1 or The X-man Cometh

Dear Nathan,

Ricky, Tim and I have all stood up and publicly supported you in the last few months, even though you were being shit. And we were laughed at, which I don't like because I am the chairman of selectors you know (no, really). Then we told you to go back to play for NSW, and even suggested they let you be captain for a little bit, and said that would be the best preparation for you for the Ashes.

We were lying.

But we were having so much fun pissing you about. That's why we invited you along to speak at the press conference at the Opera House last week. It's great watching you think we all support you through your ups and your downs, watching you be all comfortable in your place with such staple players as Katich, Clarke and Watson. Notice we didn't invite Hussey there? That was to fuck with his head as well. We love it.

But guess what? You're not playing in Brisbane and you probably won't play again. Because Doherty is just better than you, at the moment anyway, and Steve Smith is all cuddly and shit. Shane Warne can complain all he wants, too. We gave that fat bastard his own cricket ground and he still won't shut the hell up.

So off you go to hang out with Krejza, McGain, Casson and McGill at the Spinners we've Stopped giving a Shit About bar. Don't worry, Smith and Doherty will join you in a year or so.

Love Andrew Hilditch

Because we can!

Its ridiculous, Doherty will get a few wickets I bet but dropping Hauritz?

First big mistake if the series?

I can see why Doherty should play the Gabba, but dumping Ritz altogether? And after making it clear to him and the public that his place was safe?

Arseholes.

I'm angry, can you tell?

I would have thought keeping Smith and /or O'Keefe hungry (i.e. as understudies to Ritzy) made more long term sense than Doherty. Are you angry enough to want us to lose?

Ahhh, Thanks SiddyWiddy.

At least you're not angry about it init Sid?

I shall now get onto the 2nd bit of my prediction...Swann getting injured.

Hello Sid it is of course very bitter. But I think you have to look at the decision in detail and check out some things that have happened in the recent weeks. Couldn't help writing a post about it as well, not sure which of the theories apply but if you have calmed down a little perhaps lend it an eye, would like to hear your thoughts...

Cheers,
Wes

What hasn't O'Keefe done do deserve selection over Smith

Aussies showing faith in SLA? The last time they used to pick them was in the 80's when there was Ray Bright. Should Giles comeback from retirement to help out Australia?

Wes, do you think I stopped keeping up in recent weeks? I know what's happened. All players have ups and downs, dropping one over what has happened in recent weeks is shit.

Doherty is good, smith is ok but Adrian is right - keeping them hungry, beneath a much more experienced spinner would have been the best option.

Doherty as a left hander should do well, but dumping Ritz altogether is the wrong thing to do.

Agreed with you as well, Matthew. O'Keefe is much better than Smith. I don't know how they can justify dumping Hauritz and keeping Smith.

It's not about ups and downs, Sid. It's about having been at the very bottom for weeks, right at the start of the Ashes, with no one to back you up, because your role is unique. Apart from that I would've kept him, not sure if you were aware of that.

Sidthegnomenator said...

Of course I was aware of it, and how can you being at the bottom for weeks isn't ups and downs? It's only weeks. Not ups and downs is months/years. Not weeks.

Stani Army said...

...I can get them to re-call him if you really want?

Please, Stani. I insist. My abusive emails clearly just aren't cutting it.
