Operation Ashes Retrieval - Day 14 of 25

Mission continued.
Mission successful.
Opposition bye-byes for 123. So sad.

Agent Ry a bit good.
Agent Johns also fabulous.

... and as the crowd dispersed from the WACA, Aussie flags rippling in the hands of the Fremantle Doctor, this man was seen leaving the ground in his own special way:

Report ends.

P.S. thanks to Jesskimoo, whose pyjama tweet inspired this, and to my son Tom, who helped me fight with the Gimp.

And thanks to Mike Hussey for being my hero.

And thanks to Mike Hussey for turning back into a WARRIOR.

Nice to see Mitch kicking butt as well - hope he can keep it up. And Harris?? Didn't see that one coming, but I'll take it.

I think more of Harris than you do. He's got some mongrel in him and he is a canny quick bowler, he gets the ball to nip around. Watch him in ODIs, he can make the ball cut around off the pitch. Looks like a fat medium pacer but he isn't at all. Fat or medium pace.

I think he is a great foil for MJ and might keep MJ relaxed as our erratic leftie who can produce these brilliant things on occasion won't feel that it is all dependent on him. Very important that. We need to find some way to keep him fit.

Harris sounds like he has a brain in interviews so it is strange that he is absolutely brainless with the bat in hand. I assume he'll fall for set-ups every day of the week and twice on Sunday.

well, it took just 4 players to bring England down. more need to step up, if they want to win back the ashes.

Positive feelings all round. Still some problems for us, of course. Nonetheless, to win so emphatically when the top order is playing so poorly is encouraging.

I have my doubts about Hughes, and Clarke too at the moment, though I like what I've seen of Smith. He played some crazy shots, granted, but that pull for four off Tremlett was marriageable stuff, and he looks a combative little bastard as well. I think Hauritz should be back with the squad, and definitely in the team for Sydney (prob. for Siddle). And I'm not just saying that for Sid's sake.

Harris is a find, as Lou says, and he was showing some real class in ODIs well before this; it's hard to see Bollinger making his way back into the reckoning, though the selectors (still don't like them) have got to take some blame for his match fitness.

Here's hoping for a passably quick pitch in Melbourne, or at least something quicker than the sludge used in tour match.

*Sigh*

Its taken me a few days to sum up the courage to comment :(

Oz did damn good on this, Mitch needs to keep this level of consistency and not start flaking out again if he wants to be truely world class.
Hughes, Ponting and the rest need to start scoring runs!

Read that half of Australias runs this series have come from Hussey and Haddin and that Hussey is averaging over 100 already?

Bit crazy!

As for England, Finn is too expensive, we really missed Broads control, Swann needs to step up and so does Strauss.

Ultimately I knew this was going to happen at some stage, I just hoped we'd be unable to lose the Ashes when it did! ;)

Craig, I wouldn't worry yet. If you look down our batting, it still wasn't that good. The WACA is a funny old pitch and the two WA players used it well because they know it well. Most of the others not so much, except Harris and Twatto.

The same won't happen at the MCG and I still think Swann is going to tear us up at Sydney. Like Adrian, I would love to see Hauritz back for that one, but I don't like my chances.

Guys, I don't know what it is about Harris that I don't like. I don't think it even has anything to do with his bowling, to be honest, I just don't like him. If he can hekp us get the Ashes back, though, I might come around :-)
