The move is on again!

Possibly.

As some of you may have noticed, I haven't been able to access my blog for several days. This is because Blogger have been complete bastards. I can, I have discovered, access it if I use IE (as I am now) but that is not ideal because I hate IE. I am a Firefox user.

I hope not to be a Blogger user for much longer.

I have set up a wordpress blog, and it will be hosted so no @wordpress.com, but the move is proving more difficult than I originally thought. I have been her for nearly two years now; you have all found me here in that time and I like the Blogger user friendly dashboard etc. Plus you can do so much more with a Blogger blog.

And, of course, the URL that appears in this year's Wisden almanac is this one.

Maybe I'll wait.

Maybe I won't.

Because Blogger are being bastards.

Any thoughts?

And on a side note, a friend of my friend went to Cardiff today to see the cricket. He attempted to get the autographs of KP and Stuart Broad. Both of them snubbed him; KP didn't even pretend not to see him - he looked right at him and said "no, way mate".

Nice, huh? My Lord would never behave that way.

Hmm...despite the occasional problems with blogger, I still like it because of the flexibility in terms of templates and stuff...

I have no experience with blogger, but I do have experience with self hosted wordpress, and its a pain in the ass! ultimately, I guess you should wait a while before making the switch..

Ok new phone issues. Thought I had already commented. Basically, I would like to lose the blogspot in my url but it it's where to host. I will think further.

So you would have a self-hosted blogger blog. Don't forget they were affected by the crash, too HA HA sorry (that was a bitter laugh). I know it's an absolute pain :(

Yes I know that. That's why I don't want to give them my money but will word press be any better?

Well the advantage of blogger for a user is really that you can delete a comment you made. This is sometimes necessary. This is not possible with Wordpress, dunno why (even if you comment via Wordpress account) but this is not so relevant. I think Wordpress is good if people make use of the possibilities (like installing commentluv etc and making it as userfriendly as possible) but most of the time you are wondering why they are actually selfhosting it, as it is no different from the free restricted possibilities version. If you really want to put up with the hosting stress I think Wordpress is really good, what I hate about blogger is the lack of categories and the limited number of labels you can apply to a post, otherwise I would never turn my back on it haha. Full control over the template code and sidebar(s) for free is great

You can do so much more with Blogger for free plus moving to wordpress means people having to find me again, which I don't want to do. I do want to lose the blogspot or wordpress from the url though.

I still can't access my blog unless I use IE at the moment and the Bolshy bitch in me is telling me not to keep giving Blogger my support paid or otherwise. They are not only not sorting it out, but are emphatically ignoring the hundreds of people who have lost blogs or access to them. A free blog is no good if you can't get to it.

I went through the whole dilemma re self-hosting a year and a half ago before I got rid of the blogspot on my blog. I thought about moving to WP and self-host but it was so complicated and more expensive than hosting on blogger. Ultimately, I went with blogger because it was only $10 for a whole year and it was easy to understand for someone who isn't as technologically advanced like me. I know blogger has been affected by issues but I see it as them building on their current product.

It is more expensive and you have less scope for creativity but I do like the way it looks. The dashboard area seems so much more complicated than blogger but once you get used to it it's fine. I've had my other blog over there for a while now and I do like it but the template options are more limited.

Meh! I don't know. I've set up a link to the possible new site just for the next day or so, please do tell me what you think.
